Friday's Feast!
Feast One Hundred & Eighteen
Appetizer: Do you believe there is intelligent life on other planets?
I neither believe nor disbelieve. If it turned out to be true I would accept it, but I would need to have some sort of evidence of it. I just don’t take many things on faith.
Soup: What is one thing you said you'd never do, but you eventually did?
Go to grad school. I think I only said I’d never do it so I wouldn’t feel bad if I tried to and then didn’t get in.
Salad: Who is the teacher that influenced you the most in school?
My fourth grade teacher, Miss Cooper. At a time when the school librarian told me I was not advanced enough to check out and read “Little Women,” Miss Cooper encouraged me to read whatever I wanted, whether it was all the “Ramona” books or my older brother’s reading assignments. Take that, Mrs. Hayes. You NEVER should discourage a child from reading.
Main Course: If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be and why?
Eh, I’m not really good at this sort of question. I mean, if you couldn’t tell by this blog and by my creative nonfiction body of work, I’m a little self-involved. Could I possibly trade places with a more productive version of me? I would like to see how she does it.
Dessert: What is your favorite dish to prepare?
Chili! I usually only make it once a year, during the NFL playoffs. I love to get up early in the morning and start cooking and tasting all morning long and then have a steaming pot of delicious chili done in time for the afternoon game!

I would like some proof of "other life" too, really! I want to believe it's out there... I want to believe that we can't be the ONLY ones... but I won't REALLY believe it until I see some evidence!
And YAY for Miss Cooper! And HISS to Mrs. Hayes! You BET a teacher (especially) should never discourage a child from reading! And all adults should encourage it!

My "Miss Cooper" was actually the librarian... she let me check out Gone With the Wind when she wouldn't let others in the school! Actually, I could check out anything I wanted... it was nice.
